1. Who we are

YourWatts Africa ("we", "us") is operated by Kulik Media UG, a limited company registered in Germany. Contact: /contact.

As the operator is based in the European Union, we apply a single high-standard data protection baseline to all visitors — equivalent to EU GDPR — regardless of your country of residence. This approach also satisfies the requirements of the main African data protection frameworks applicable to our visitors, including South Africa's POPIA, Nigeria's NDPR, and Kenya's Data Protection Act 2019.

2. What data we collect

• Usage data (analytics): aggregated, anonymised data about pages visited, device type, country (from IP, then discarded), and referrer.
• Tool inputs: if you use our ROI calculator or system configurator, your inputs are processed locally in your browser and are not stored on our servers.
• Contact submissions: if you email us, we retain the email and any information you provide.

We do not collect: payment data, government IDs, or precise location.

3. Why we collect it (lawful basis)

• Legitimate interest: analytics to improve the site, fraud/abuse prevention.
• Consent: non-essential cookies and any marketing pixels — only after you opt in.
• Contract / pre-contract: responding to your questions.

POPIA users: processing relies on the "legitimate interests" and "consent" conditions under section 11 of POPIA. NDPR and Kenya DPA users: the equivalent lawful-processing grounds under those statutes.

4. Cookies and tracking

We use Google Analytics 4 (when enabled) for aggregated usage statistics. Non-essential cookies are only set after you give explicit consent via the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing cookies for this site or using your browser's Do Not Track setting.

5. Affiliate tracking

When you click an affiliate link on our site, you will be directed to a third-party merchant. That merchant may set their own cookies to attribute a resulting sale to us. We do not share any personal data with these partners — only an anonymised referral identifier.

6. Your rights

Regardless of which framework applies, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability
• Lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority — for example, the Information Regulator (South Africa), NDPC (Nigeria), or the ODPC (Kenya)

7. Data retention

Analytics data is retained for 14 months in aggregated form. Contact-form submissions are retained for 24 months unless you request earlier deletion.

8. International transfers

Data is processed in the European Union by our operator, and by service providers (e.g. Google Analytics) that may process data in the United States. Such transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards recognised under POPIA, NDPR, and Kenya DPA 2019.

9. Changes to this policy

We will post any material changes here. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
